Loving yourself is hard to do. After all, you see everything you do - the good AND the bad. However, it's important to build up your self love so that you can be your best and give to others that you care about. Here are three ways to practice self love, starting today.
Treat Yourself the Way You Treat Others
Take a look at how you treat your best friends, family, coworkers, and strangers on the street. You're probably nice to them, supportive of their decisions, and love them unconditionally. Now look at how you treat yourself. Are those actions similar? Different? Try to treat yourself with the same care and respect that you show towards others.
Accept Yourself Just As You Are
Many of us believe that we would be happier if we were thinner, more outgoing, smarter, or richer. And often, when we finally attain those things, we aren't any happier. We find ourselves wanting even more out of life. Take a look at yourself and accept you for who you are right now, instead of always focusing on what you lack.
Find Your Purpose
It's very likely that at some point in your life, if not now, you were deeply passionate about something. Maybe it was reading, or music, or animals. Whatever it was, see how you can incorporate that into your current life. Get a library card, take up an instrument, or volunteer at the animal shelter.
